Developed by Dr. Thomas Fitzpatrick, this skin classification system measures how your skin reacts to the sun, helping us determine the safest, most effective approach for your treatments.

How It Works

Your Fitzpatrick Skin Type is determined through a short questionnaire about your natural skin tone, eye and hair color, and how your skin responds to sun exposure. Based on your score, you’ll be placed into one of six categories—ranging from very fair (Type I) to deeply pigmented (Type VI).

Knowing your Fitzpatrick type allows us to:

Select the safest treatment settings for lasers, light therapy, and skin resurfacing.
Reduce the risk of unwanted pigmentation changes.
Predict how your skin will respond to sun exposure and aging.
